Outreach

The Roots House Youth Shelter offers drop-in services for youth 16-24 years of age from 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. daily. Youth are welcome to and can access food, shower, toiletries, Wi-Fi, one-on-one staff support, referrals to community resources/ services, advocacy, harm reduction support, and education and employment support.
Pictou County Roots for Youth also offers a "Community Cupboard," which is located at the Roots House Youth Shelter (603 East River Road, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, B2H 3S4). Youth 12-24 years of age, in need of this service, can access the Community Cupboard at any time to pick-up food items, toiletries, and other personal items! 
If you would like to donate items to the Community Cupboard, we welcome drop-offs at the Roots House Youth Shelter (603 East River Road, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, B2H 3S4). We accept non-perishables (e.g., canned and jarred items), bottled beverages, and boxed or packaged food/ snack items.
